industrial chic? or trashy lighting?

this lighting is a little on the low brow side. a trash can made into an industrial looking lamp shade--clever. the light bulb just hangs from the ceiling but is ensconced within a trash can shade that is hanging by rope.

bottle chandelier

a local hang out/restaurant has this great bottle chandelier in their lobby. would be great in a loft over a dining table.

leaf wire art

these wire leaves make for great wall art and cast a cool shadow on the wall too. forgot to ask the price so not sure how much they are but saw them at the design center at palecek.

newgate bubble and cube clocks

saw these fun retro-y clocks by a british company called newgate and don't ya know you can get them on amazon too. i want one for myself but they would also be a fun gift for a friend that has great style.

funky rug: bow ties

it's retro. its silky. it's bow ties! yep, a rug made of bow ties. so ingenious. not sure it can go in a high traffic area but certainly a sartorial statement for your floor! another clever item seen in san francisco at flipp.

san francisco: everything here is wonderful

loved this framed san francisco map i saw at taylor stitch on valencia.

cool resin stool

really loved this resin-seat stool that i saw being used as an ocassional table. seems like you might actually be able to make this yourself if you had a cool vintage stool base you could use. this might need to be an upcoming diy project...

gorgeous reflections

oh boy oh boy do i love this light fixture. look at the gorgeous reflections it casts. sadly it will also cast dark shadows in your wallet as it costs ~$2400. but, if you need a statement piece, this outta help you out!

mad men-style simple bench

oh boy. fell in love with this simple, clean lines-style bench i saw at the flea market. my head was reeling with images of how i could have it reupholstered (which probably would be pretty cheap given it's simplicity). it could go from simple to simply chic. and this beauty was only $85!

industrial metal dresser

i just love metal furniture. industrial. utilitarian. and yet, still good lookin'! and those big old drawer pulls are impressive. this gem at the flea market was $750!  waaay out of my price range. i think it was a bit pricey but these things do take a lot of time to strip and get to this point so i can't begrudge the asking price given the labor that went into it.

beachy awning-stripe area rugs

these are so cheery--awning stripe area rugs.  wouldn't it be cute to sew several together end-to-end to make a runner for a beach house? $25 each at the flea market.

mid-century saarinen chairs

so sad no one was overseeing this flea market booth--i was dying to know how much these saarinen chairs were. so cool. i even like the color combo.

bowl of tools and hardware

literally.  a bowl made of tools and hardware. could be a good gift for the handyman/woman in your life. as seen at flipp in sf.

leggy twin metal tables

these metal-base, glass-top leggy twins were getting a lot of looky loo's at the flea market. $125 a piece. i would love to haul them down to my local powder coater and freshen them up with a hot color. then they could be used indoors or out.

tick tock, sand as a clock

if i was a bit more flush i would have snatched up all of these hour-long hour glasses--only $25 each at the flea market!  a few would be fun as a cluster on a mantle, table or dresser.

count your pots: gardening by the numbers

plain garden pots + metal numbers + easy care succulents = fun outdoor patio wall display. and i totally dig the weathered diagonal wood wall slats.  wouldn't this be a great way to cover an ugly wall within your own outdoor space? as seen on the patio at flipp.

 

retro, handmade lamp bases

i like these retro lamp bases made of printers letter blocks and a surveyors measuring stick (i'm sure those measuring stick things have a unique name but beats me what it is!). seems like these could be home made but sure would be a lot easier to just go to flipp in san francisco and snatch them up!

hippy chick moroccan headboard

some hip chick can further increase her cool factor when she gets this moroccan-inspired headboard i saw at aldea.

coral mirror

i bet it's heavy but it is so beachy and airy looking. this faux coral mirror would be fantastic in a foyer or as a bathroom mirror. saw this at flipp.

 

light as a feather

these beautiful, feather-light prints couldn't be more precise in their detail. sold separately or as a set of 6, they are by artist roy barlota. (for sale at flipp in san francisco).

metal lattice chandeliers

...at least I think they were metal. regardless, these would look great with several in a cluster at different heights over a dining table.

mirrored dresser / console

love this console! i think this is an all new piece but wouldn't it be awesome to do something like this to a vintage piece of furniture that you find at the flea market?
