this lighting is a little on the low brow side. a trash can made into an industrial looking lamp shade--clever. the light bulb just hangs from the ceiling but is ensconced within a trash can shade that is hanging by rope.

bottle chandelier
a local hang out/restaurant has this great bottle chandelier in their lobby. would be great in a loft over a dining table.

gorgeous reflections
oh boy oh boy do i love this light fixture. look at the gorgeous reflections it casts. sadly it will also cast dark shadows in your wallet as it costs ~$2400. but, if you need a statement piece, this outta help you out!

metal lattice chandeliers
...at least I think they were metal. regardless, these would look great with several in a cluster at different heights over a dining table.

cotton candy lighting
another hit from my local cisco home. such a fun grouping of lights in cotton candy colors. yum! although cotton candy is a bit more affordable: at $425 a pop, this cluster is about $4250.

twinkly candle lights
hanging on a large wall at my favorite coffee joint, the coffee bar, is this handmade lighting fixture. with about 75 light bulbs, it still doesn't give off a ton of light but it makes for a great art installation. looks like it would be simple enough to make something similar.

white lights
this is a sales display at my local west elm store. all white. a little back lighting. simple! this would be a pretty option for a mantle, a bookshelf or top of a console.

surveyors lamps
i saw this surveyors rig at the flea market for $195 (guessing i could negotiate it down to at least $150-ish?). it is not quite as fancy as the pottery barn option for almost $400 below, but could be made into a similarly handsome lamp for less than half the price. too bad i saw this after i had already spent all my dough for the day!
